THE tanker stove?

In Vietnam WE had a stove that we called "TANKER STOVE"

The stove was about the size of a pineapple and it came in a aluminum casing which also served as cooking pots.  - IT BURNED EVERYTHING  -- The fuel was contained in a container at the bottom of the stove --it had a small hand pump built in --only a few pushes on it pressurized the container and you where ready to go --it would burn for hrs on one small load of fuel -- we guarded it with our lives.  I still have one over 40 years latter.  Coleman makes a stove similar to it.

ED – Rex, I think the stove you are referring to is this one pictured here.  It’s the M1950 Squad stove.  As you describe, it comes in a two piece aluminum container which also serve as pots.  The stove will run white gas, MOGAS, and leaded and unleaded gasoline.

I have one of these stoves new and still in the box looking for a buyer

i have one of these stoves
i am lookimg for replacement parts
do you know where i can find any?
whats the price for this one?
mine maybe to far gone.

When selecting these stoves make sure that you get a stove that uses a non- pressurized fuel, the pump action stoves and the others (like karosene), may not work as well but they arn't bombs on your back. Check the videos at youtube if you like. A trace would be most effective. http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=propane+bomb&hl=en

P.S. Here are some video of fuel bottles being shot. This is why functionality of stoves come last. But I do believe stoves are a better alternative than having someone step on your piece of burning C4.

when i was stationed in fort hood, texas back in the late60,s during the VIETNAM ERA we were always out into the field. i was in signal corp.we had one of those little M1950 stoves.i had camping gear with a frying pan.At night we,d sneak over to the cooks tent and grab some steaks and eggs and have a damn good late lunch on that little stove.i miss that little cooker now. we put gasoline into it and it cooked all night. it sure would be handy frying meals camping out now that i,m out.

Lenny,
I'd buy the M-1950 if the price is right

I had two and wore them out after only ten years and four moves. They were great stoves. Wish I could find one sold commercially now. Even when I admit that Camp stoves have gone way beyond this little cooker, you can't beat being able to burn the varity of fuels it could.

I have a squad stove, used in when i got in 85'. burned everything even little denatured alcohol. Works as well as the day i got it. there are some new stoves out check out brunton.com

Looking for a "New" M-1950 Stove?

Try this site: www.omahas.com, or you can type this in your browser:
Omaha's Army Navy Military Surplus.

They sell New Old Stock (NOS) of these for about $100. Ad states it's, "New, complete in the box, with all original paper work". Tough to beat that for $100! (I just ordered mine, so I don't have it in hand for a complete review yet.)

I'm a disabled US Marine, so they did give me a little off on it, which is more than I can say for most other companies when ask if they give any price consideration for disabled vets or vets in general. Semper Fi - JD

Hey - I've got one of these in my stash, part of a buncha stuff I acquired. Looks/smells like it was never used. It's in the original 2-piece aluminum canister and has the adjustment wrench. I already have a small "pack-stove" solution and a vehicle-stove solution, so this is NOT something I absolutely need. I'd love to pass it on to someone who needs it worse then me. If anyone is interested in it, I can take pretty much whatever pics of it you might want. Email me if interested - docoutlands@gmail.com - and we'll go from there.

Anyone know where to get repair parts, pump especially.

Have had mine since EAS in 79 and the pump check valve has rotted away.

I have three of these. Maintenance intensive and hard (impossible?) to get parts for. Tips easily. Requires a carbuerator that will burn out if used with hot burning unleaded gas instead of white gas. Pump and leather seal are problem areas when the seals dry and start leaking. Advice: get an Optimus 8R, Optimus 111, or a SVEA 123. Almost no moving parts and primes with a pre-burn to pressurize tank instead of a pump. Brunton makes the new versions of both these stoves, but used ones often work well enough.

I am looking for parts for a M 1950 camp stove. If anyone has any parts. Please help.

I found repair parts on Ebay for these. Check out Item number: 270291397271 and go from there

The same seller has cups, check valves and gaskets for these old stoves. heres a link to the store.. http://stores.ebay.com/OLDCOLEMAN-COM-PARTS-CENTER copy and paste it.
