Stoppum floppum, the SERPA sticks to your hip

After trying half a dozen holsters, I settled with the Blackhawk SERPA tactical holster because it does not slip around your thigh, does not pull your trousers down, is comfortable, you can run with it, it has a very secure and fast locking mechanism which is easy to find in any situation, you can get your hand in your pocket due to the two points which attach to your belt around your pocket, and the single push button lock is adjustable. I cannot say enough about the durability and practicality of this holster. It made carrying my Beretta 9mm duty weapon better on the last two deployments.

This system is perfect. I have my SOG attached to it and additionally i use the SAFARI 9MM Mag pouches. 8 Months of heavy construction and Iraq have proven to me this is the holster for everyone who requires positive retention. Not once did I have the infamous clank on the floors or did it fall out in the HMMWV. Also you can use the MOLLE mount for your chest. Kick ass combat gear.

LMFAO... is anyone going to take Abdul seriously and give him a call.
Hey... I think he might be a nice guy!

Hey Steve,
The pistol in the pic is a SIG P226 (and most likely in its 9mm version)

I have had too many contractor friends of mine say that they have had their weapons get locked in to the holster to count on this one. I go with a 6004 as mine and it has never let me down.

Blackhawk SERPA also makes this holster for the 1911. The extra magazine pouches for the .45 don't appear as secure as the pouches for the longer magazine pictured above for the 9mm.

This is an excellent holster for the Baretta 9Mil. I got mine at Blackhawk.com, came the next day. The security on the leg, and single finger release really make this holser the best!

I hope I don't have to look at Abdul's pistol pointing at me!
Makes me wondfer why jhe tyravel to Iraq.....

I have 2 Serpa's and the same unit as depicted in the picture. I've had several other holsters and by far, this I found to be the best. I have a Glock 21 and when I remove the weapon from my holster, my trigger finger is aligned and ready to fire. No second guessing.

This holster needs some revamping to come close to a Safariland 6074 holster. The only advantage I like about it was the two point belt fasteners. It eases the tension on pulling you pants down while wearing suspenders. The down side of the SERPA holster is it doesn't pass the jungle patrol test; it rattles like crazy with every step. If you buy the SERPA mag holder with this you will lose you mags on the cupola and jumping from the HMMWV hood to the ground. Not good if the Sh&t hit the fan and you are looking for you mags. Basically, to sum it up, without these improvements it a good FOBBIT holster for those who don't get out of the wire much, especially on the dismounted side.

The finger release is what is causing the hang ups on the weapon the pin that is used to secure it works loose and cause it to lock into place making it where you can not with draw the weapon.

At least you put a Marines up there who knows how to wear his gear. I am currently serving in Iraq and I use the Sepra drop Leg and am very happy with the product.

Stick with the Safariland. I have four trips on one and the only thing that happened was the backing plate cracked. I don't like the fact that the blackhawk doesn't have a strap to secure the weapon. that locking mechanism is really just a knee jerk.

They do have a stap. I don't know how well it works or anything but I know they have one thats a bunjee cord with a pull tab that goes thru the hole under the adjustable retention screw.

Saffari holster all the way!
I have field tested both and can tell you in a heart beat that Saffari holsters are the best. I always saw police officers with them and woundered why those kind. Why? First off blackhawk holsters arn't very secure with the button on the side of them. My buddy in the middle of a nasty hand to hand combat fight lost his weapon. It came flying out some how. Scarry for a second as we all went chasing after it on the floor. The Saffari has many things in place to prevent your weapon coming out unless you want it too.
First is a strap that is hard plastic. covers the rear area of the pistol to include the hammer. That is covered by a special hood to prevent attackers from taking it from the front. But by a simple push down on the strap button and push that puppy forward the hole strap rotates foward.
Takes same amount of time as the blackhawk just the weapon is more secure. Next is the weapon inside the blackhawk gigles around so makes noise. Also make it possible for the button to press and your pistol coming out. Saffari has a swead leather inside. So once the weapon slides in its not moving at all. Just as easy to take out as was put in. Buy both and try both at home and take back 1 but you will quickly see the quality diffrence.

The Safariland is a great holster but I also give the BlackHawk holsters high marks because of the versatility of the holster platform that is configurable in a variety of setups.
The bungee cord is an ok feature, and so is the pistol lanyard, but I like the new Level 3 Tactical holsters.
BlackHawk has a new Level 3 SERPA duty holster available now! It is only available in black but I am sure that they will be releasing it in the coyote tan and foliage green colors soon?
The Level 3 has the SERPA lock and a shroud cover release over the hammer and slide that must be activated before the weapon can be withdrawn from the holster.
These holsters are available with or without tactical light versions.

I haven't tried the SERPAyet as they dont have a left hand version. I use a Tarus 24/7 OSS for duty carry and a UTG drop leg holster in black. Yeah I must admit it moves around my leg a little but my weapon is in secure. Hpoefully someone will produce a drop leg that is quiet and retentive.

I picked up a SERPA for my 1911 when they first came out to verify if Blackhawks claims were accurate. They are true and I found that my draw times and accuracy after the draw greatly improved with this holster. I have tried all the other brands to include Fobus and Safariland and none of them come close to the security and ease of operation that the SERPA provides. On the other side, anyone who has used a holster before knows that the typical thumb break systems fail regularly; It has been a part of live that we have taken for granted.
I loved this holster so much that I gladly paid the $120 out of my own pocket for the Beretta on my last deployment even when I could have used a Fobus or Safariland for free. I wasn't the only one on my team to buy one and of the many SERPAs I saw used, I have never seen one fail to secure or release as needed. I don't know where S. Lee gets his information from but I have personally conducted an 8 month "jungle test" with my SERPAs and they do not rattle.

Whatever you choose, don't get cheap. And, get a freekin dummy cord. I had just returned from a mission in Al Kut, and was at the LZ at Camp Victory, waiting for a ride, when I saw an officer type talking with a couple of his buddies. His no-name brand, cheap POS nylon "tactical" thigh holster was , GASP!, empty. I nudged my partner, and said to watch this. When I tapped on the guys back, and he turned to face me, I pointed to his holster and asked , "Is that suppossed to be empty, or are you missing something?"....The color drained out of his face, he uttered an unprintable word, and then sprinted for flight ops. Apparently, he and his pistol eede some time away from each other, and it decided to stay onboard a Blackhawk. It was the highlight of my deployment...

Check the Blackhawk Web Site. Safety issue's with their Serpa Holster and I believe they have recalled it. The Safariland 6004/6005 Holster is the only authorized holster for use by Security Forces. Which means someone has done their homework.
