ED -- This slick little piece of kit was mentioned in the comments of the write up I did on the Nalgene bottle and I though it worthy of its own entry. Thanks Doug! Keep posting!
They do make a metal cup that nests with nalgene bottles. Go to Eastern Mountain Sports or REI's websites and search for "NESTER'S Space Saver Cup". I got mine for around $7. I rigged insulated carriers on my camping backpack's hip belt and it works great!

I got one of these from Campmor:

eastern mountain sports now longer carries the nesters cup, although you can find them on ebay.com, they are a lil more expensive

I've had one of these for years and I've got a couple of observations. 1. Great for heating water in and heats enough or a cold weather MRE. 2. Also great to drink from if you don't want to drink from the bottle or are using water cans. 3. Don't try to do both with it. I had a guy make the mistake once of heating it on the single burner stove and then tried to drink from it. Not to smart.
For the money and space savings its a great piece of gear.
