I know it's not gear-specific, but I wanted to use this forum to give some props to our boys with the 3rd Battalion of the 187th Infantry in Paktika pronvince Afghanistan.

These were the dudes who we embedded with for a bit during our trip and had just an awesome time from the command all the way down to the platoon and squad.

The outpost we spent the most time on was up the road from another one that was well known throughout the BCT for being just a shit wall for the Taliban. This place got hit almost every day, sometimes multiple times. The Yahyah Khel combat outpost watched over what the Joes like to call the area's Super Walmart where Talib fighters would rest and refit before heading out to places and Kandahar and Gardez.

Well a couple days ago, the boys from Angel Company had enough...

The combined force was conducting counter-sniper operations near the village when enemy forces engaged them with rocket propelled grenade and small arms fire, wounding two Soldiers...

ANSF and 3-187 returned fire, killing several insurgents and causing the remaining fighters to flee the area on motorcycles...

An aerial weapons team from Task Force Viper, 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment assisted the combined force, destroying numerous enemy fighters with cannon and missile fire in three separate engagements...

After securing each engagement area, the combined forces seized weapons and improvised explosive device materials, consisting of one PKM machine gun, four AK-47 rifles, one RPG, a sniper rifle, six hand grenades, several ICOM radios, blasting caps, and an IED construction manual...

Two enemy fighters were also captured, along with four motorcycles used in the attack...

Well done by our friends in Angel Company and I hope Kit Up! readers will keep their eye on news from this unit. Story Continues
