Daniel Defense and Your Tactical Cam

A couple weeks ago Kit Up! learned that uber-strong AR-maker Daniel Defense has inked a deal with Contour cameras to be their exclusive distributor to the tactical market.

Started by a couple of fun hogs out in Washington state, Contour has previously catered mostly to the adventure sports market -- with sick back country snowboarders, skiiers and mountain bikers chronicling their death defying feats.

The low-profile cameras have made some inroads recently in the military and tactical market, with a couple videos popping up here and there of troops doing their jobs in the war zone. But until now, the cameras haven't been as prevelent on the heads of troopers and trainers.

"We took a few of these out to the range and were just blown away at how well they worked," said DD's Patrick Kisgen. "These will work great for troops in the field, 3-gun competitions and hunting."

The cameras go for about $250 for the lower end Contour HD, to $500 for the tricked out Contour+HD with whopping 170 degree angle of view and an external mic plug. Two of the models have GPS built in so the camera can automatically track the location of the footage and each has BlueTooth capability so you can tether your smartphone with Contour's app to better orient the camera's view.

Daniel Defense also has all the attachment hardware you'll need to crimp it to your ACH, Picatinny rail or Ops-Core lid.
