Hi everyone-
Sorry for going dark for a few weeks, I’ve been working my day job and finishing up writing assignments I was on deadline to complete and I’m finally up for air.
Given the complex and dangerous world we live in today I wanted to share a book a good friend wrote regarding personal risk mitigation. Clint and I served together in the SEAL Teams and he has since gone on to do great things inside the government security world. His book has been in print for a while but is gaining major traction outside government and I know that several major news publications (WSJ included) are putting his security philosophy to work. I’ve read it cover to cover and have given copies to anyone I care about that travels. This is directly applicable to the warfighter and I would definitely recommend the book for anyone else who travels internationally. Read it and be the Sheepdog! Enjoy. -Brandon

Looks like a good read!
Thirty-five dollars for a paperback!
This isn't a dime novel and I doubt you can get that information first-hand for $35….
You can't put a price on something that could save lives and this book is in that right direction no doubt at all. Open mind for a different view save lives and these views are spot on!!!!!!!
Great pointers!!!. i hope more folks read this it may save more lives.
I thought I would post a few comments on this even though I'm only a quarter of the way through. So far the book has good info. One key point about books like this is the frame of reference and starting point of the reader.
I would say that this book is indeed targeted towards commercial travelers, meaning business or tourism. And it's narrative style is probably better for people who don't think in checklists. It also has a lower expectation of previous training and experience, which is good for the intended audience.
My criticism, if you could call it that, is that for those who've had training (albeit a looong time ago on a planet far far away) and think in checklists or are in the position of imminent travel to a non-permissive environment without a lot of time, it's a bit verbose and short on diagrams and quick concept delivery methods.
What I might suggest the author do is write a condensed version heavier on checklists, diagrams and other quick communications mechanisms for the people looking for a refresher or with a last minute trip (I fit both those categories currently).
Advice for normal readers is to give yourself a solid two month's of reading and practicing before travel with this book as it stands and if you've never done travel prep and background research on a country, give yourself a month the first time to complete that.
All good suggestions by the readers! Thanks. I am currently writing a second book – more government orientated – co-authored with Lt. Col. Grossman. If your interested in the elearning – contact us – its the book with all the graphics and so much more information! Thanks again for your support.
Great! Will keep an eye out for it. Brandon's write up was timely as I'm headed OCONUS shortly and I've been trying to digest the book before departing along with all the other prep.
Happy to support a fellow veteran entrepreneur as well!
My family and I have traveled the world and wished that we had read this book before embarking on our journey! We survived, the book would have prepared us for the unknown! We can't wait til the next book comes out as we are gurus in visiting new countries! The author is very specific in directing the traveler with awesome guidance to stay safe throughout the entire journey! Excellent reading!!!!!!
I wish I had found this a few months back! I will be travelling through Ethiopia and Rwanda in the next month. I’ve been around the block a few times already but I feel this is something I should have read already. I will order and read when I get back (talk about hindsight!)
