Nothing revolutionary. If it were to replace the army rifle, it would have to be something really great. Not just an upgraded m4.

Will they produce a civilian version? If so, where and when can I get one?

They do make civilian versions…and they also make a direct gas version if you don't like piston guns.

That looks like one hell of a rifle. Seems to have a little more kick than the standard AR but who cares. Less cleaning= more training.

Hey, anybody else notice two of the “Related Posts” are “VIDEO: Lack of Full Auto on M4s Cost Lives” and “Full Auto: Not the Way to Go”

Kinda contradictory, right?

It doesn’t have to be a completely revolutionary design and 100 percent better than other rifles to replace the m4/m16. It just has to be a little better than the competition at a reasonale full scale production cost. Brush up on your history guys. The m1 garand was a revolution in battlefield tech not cuz it was the absolute best rifle of the day in all categories, but because it was cheap and easy to manufacture and service and it held it’s own in all categories. This rifle seems to have some great ideas/improvements manufactured into it. If nothing else it will serve as a template for future production models

This looks like it will be a good carbine but I have to ask.
Why the hell do these gun companies locate their operations in anti gun states and cities? Would it have been that difficult to set up shop in VA instead of in Maryland? It's not my company and the owner can do what he wants but I would not want my tax dollars supporting anti gunners.

Looks good! Chamber it in 6.8SPC and we have a REAL combat weapon. The poodle shooter round has got to go.

How are you going to charge it when you have a laser aiming module and a tac light on it? With a PEQ-15 alone it looks like it would be difficult. Nice concept, but maybe too much trouble than it"s worth.

Good point, I was taking a look at their website, and the positioning of the charging handle looks like it could limit what and where you mount certain devices, i.e. PEQ modules, various lighting attachment, and your magpul rail mounted cup holder

I know no one seem overly empressed but I am and I've actually deployed Iraq. We had the M4 and the unit I'm with right now still uses stock M16A2s. A lot of people complaining about the disadvantages of the current system may not be very familiar with it (in a first hand kind of way). It works and works well and really doesn't need any changes which is why there really haven't been any. However, I like this and I've seen and handled lots of the alternatives. The low muzzle climb alone is huge because even three round burst in an M4 can be a little hard to deal with. Another thing that got my attention when I went to their site is the price. I'll let you guys check it out yourself if you're interested but most of the high end ARs everyone likes to rave about are way more.

Also to JHP about the charging handle placement… I don't know if you noticed but the rifle also uses the charging handle that the regular ARs have. So if the forward one is inaccessable just use that one it's nothing different than what people are used to now.

One last point about the forward charging handle, it is reversible. If it is on the way switch it to the other side or if you are a lefty you can put it on the right side to have the same handling characteristics and charging option the righties have with not having to move their strong hand to clear the weapon.
