Pop Quiz: What’s wrong with these pictures?

by The Mad Duo on May 1, 2012 · 63 comments

There are several issues here, as we see ‘em. Some more significant than others (like the idea that Chuck Norris needs any weapons other than his feet and beard, for instance). What do you guys see?

No, it’s not a gear update. For love of f&#$, go see if you can get a sense of humor from your S4. If you’re butthurt about it, then just don’t comment. No one will miss it.

chuck’s got his elite triple stacker mag wrong way round me thinks. oh wat about empty casings flying off into the air the non chamber port side of the weapon?

Reply

Fribblez May 1, 2012 at 4:22 pm

Well no, i was told the noveske sound amplifiers are modeled after a real noveske flash suppressor I think the KX3?

Rifle cases flying out of the AA-12 seems odd, too. And Bruce’s gun looks all kinds of weird: the lower’s stamped HK, but it has a standard M4 stock, not an HK stock. And it looked like his scope (an ELCAN? I’m not sure) was mounted to the handguard, not the receiver.

Oh, and the posters have a bit less Stallone than I would expect, having seen the first Expendables.

NMate May 1, 2012 at 11:11 am

It’s a 416, you can tell from the taller upper receiver (necessary to clear the op rod). Now if it’s real, well, who knows? Early 416s had a very similar stock to the M4.

Bruce Willis has backwards optics and almost everyone including Chuck has bad trigger finger discipline. Huge fail on gun department!

Reply

IcySwag May 2, 2012 at 10:51 am

Only Bruce has proper trigger finger discipline.

Reply

Robert May 1, 2012 at 8:44 am

most have their fingers on the trigger. Tisk Tisk.

Red2alpha73 – Come on, the first one was nothing short of epic for all of those 80′s action stars (and some new ones) to be in at the same time…

I’m glad personally to see a second one coming out. If nothing more for the 80′s action star nostalgia.

And I agree on the trigger finger discipline and it also looks like Willis has one heck of an ‘ET’ finger thing going on there…

red2alpha73 May 1, 2012 at 2:23 pm

I know Norm, I just couldn’t help it. The environment I watched the movie in really wasn’t the best for full enjoyment. Maybe it was the drive-in theater that felt more like an EPW compound, or the bugs, or the kids next to us in the VW van smoking giant joint after giant joint.

Reply

The Mad Duo May 1, 2012 at 3:22 pm

Better they were smoking joints than puffing peters or occupying wall street. Anyway, you gotta loosen up. What’s not to like about aging action stars and B grade MMA fighter action stars banding together for some gratuitous slaughter with lots of guns?

Gunner May 1, 2012 at 3:28 pm

Looks like another fun movie with the older guys of which I’m one:-)
Hey Chuck is carrying those loose rounds for Stallone and his full auto 1873—LOL!

Reply

Kharon Anon May 2, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I’m not aware of any MMA fighters in the movie other than Randy Couture, and he’s FAR from “B grade”.

Dolph Lundgren doesn’t have his own poster………..yet.

You would think the former special forces guy would be you know consulted to help with something like effectively using and setting up weapons… Maybe I’m just crazy?

Who’s the special forces guy?

BillyWhat? May 1, 2012 at 10:09 am

i saw something about this on facebook. It’s hilarious to see all these “heroes” in movies with their eotechs the wrong way around, no sights at all and those sort of mistakes.
what i see here is A) Triple mags?, loose rounds on belt B) rear sight and reddot mounted backwards C) Loudener attached F) flying rifleshells around a shotgun G) loudener attached.
There is really only one movie i ever saw that didnt have these kind of mistakes. What was it called again? i think it was something like “act of valor”?
i wonder why they had everything right in that movie….. ;-)

Reply

FormerSFMedic May 1, 2012 at 11:57 am

What is a “loudner”?

Reply

BillyWhat? May 2, 2012 at 11:10 am

Its what some people put on airguns to make them more noisy….. yeah beats me why but they do

Reply

John Hermann May 4, 2012 at 9:18 pm

yeah…Because no one, in real life, uses Noveske flash suppressors…

Reply

klip May 1, 2012 at 1:38 pm

just want to point out that Chuck’s got a sidearm that might be a revolver so those loose rounds are good to go. Otherwise, they’re there for silenced kills, since Chuck Norris’ bullets have been trained to attack in packs and kill silently.

Reply

Joel May 1, 2012 at 5:20 pm

except that those loose rounds appear to be 556… i doubt his sidearm is 556… gotta be for silenced kills!

Reply

David Reeder May 2, 2012 at 11:23 am

He didn’t actually have to train them, they were scared not to comply.

No morale patches. Everyone knows real steely-eyed killers have morale patches. “I come, I **** **** up, I leave.” or “You mom sends me care packages” or whatever. Without those they’re obviously just rank amateurs.

Lighten up guys. Usually I also don’t like these mistakes about firearms handling and optic placement. But heck, who wouldn’t want to see these old guys go on a rampage? If nothing else, the gratuitious bloodshed and high round count is a good enough reason to see this one.

Reply

oscar May 1, 2012 at 9:37 pm

If nothing else, think of this one as a bromedy…

Why are people saying the Noveske flash hider is a goof? It may make the sound of the report louder from the front, but the whole point of it is to reduce the sound and flash perceived by the shooter when using an SBR, what is the problem with that?

Those sparks are in so many movie posters I’m surprised they don’t have an agent.

Reply

Fordownr May 2, 2012 at 12:16 pm

No ballistic eyewear on any of them (Hey that could add some cool points…)
Chuck’s single rounds in his belt when he packing semi-autos
Li’s full gloves (at least the other glove wearers have the trigger finger exposed)
No Spare Magazines? at least Arnie’s got a bandolier…..

What’s not to like about a movie by H-wood action heroes of my generation? If they make me laugh then it’s worth the price of admission.

Reply

Kharon Anon May 2, 2012 at 9:06 pm

“The Expendables 3″ will star Steven Seagal ONLY. The plot will involve all of the above being killed due to their incompatence (Chuck may end up surviving and be found later holing up on Dagobah) and Seagal being required to come in and clean up the mess. ;-)
Whatever else may be said about him, at least he can ACTUALLY shoot!

CorbinDingo May 3, 2012 at 12:47 am

I would bet money that most of these posters (everything except the faces) is Photoshop. Graphic artists cut-and-paste with very little regard to technical accuracy.

I personally know the Armorers for this film, and they are extremely competent. Most of the promotional photo shoots that are done for the publicity photos bring in their own “stylist” that they are accustomed to working with (not an expensive Armorer), and only ask for rubber weapons for posing purposes. Knowing that the graphic guys will be generating the weapon stuff later.

joe May 3, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Statham wearing a black otv (interceptor), loose rounds, a woman in the round up,Li’s gloves look like foaklys, Arnold carrying a. bandolier for his AA-12 instead of extra drums/mags. Heinous trigger finger discipline (props to Willis),few if any extra mags, and the biggest one wait for it wait for ittt *** is Chuck Norris doin with a gun??? Chuck Norris only needs his roundhouse kicks!

Chuck Norris wouldn’t carry a pitiful M-16. He would carry a 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling-type cannon taken from an A-10 Warthog! ;)

Top to bottom: Norris: Exposed rounds on a leather belt??!! C’mon Willis: Yippee Yo Kai-yeah… he needs only Glock pistols. Li: He’s carrying a weapon, his hands/feet are deadly enough. Yu: hot chick with a gun…nothing wrong with that picture!! Arnold: he’s wearing his old Terminator jacket, should’ve opted for something else. Crews: missing the auto 12 guage. Statham: should just be carrying knives. Stallone: wait…there’s no Stallone….. Yo Aaaadrian..where’s Rocky’s picture !!!
