Cabot Guns (the manufacturers of the very sweet South Paw pistol for wrong-handed shooters) recently built a 1911 for actor Joe Mantegna. Says Rob Bianchin of Cabot Guns, "It inspired us to create what I believe is an unparalleled pistol, it's our crowning achievement to date."
I don't believe it is too much of a stretch to call this a work of art. I don't have specs or cost, as it's a one-off, but you can contact Cabot Guns for specific if you'd like to see them.
