AUSA 2012: KitUp! Will Be There

by Matthew Cox on October 21, 2012 · 15 comments

Aaahhhh … another AUSA is upon us. Are you excited!? Can you feel the energy!!?? Me neither, but Military.com reporters will be there in-force.

In all seriousness, AUSA is a big deal. The annual, three-day event Oct. 22-24 is always a mecca for all things Army.

Yes, there will be plenty of speeches, panel discussions, pomp-and-circumstance and Doughboy humor. But AUSA is also one of the few occasions that so many senior leaders and program heads are in one place and available to answer questions about real issues that affect soldiers.

I hope to get some face time with Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno, Sgt. Major of the Army Raymond Chandler and anybody else I can pin down. What do you want to know?

I’m going to ask about camouflage and small arms programs, but are there any other topics you guys want me to ask about? Think on it and let me know.

Also, I am going to try to spend as much time on the show floor as possible between all the speaking events. I will be looking for new gear and product upgrades, but is there anything in particular that you guys want me to focus on?

I can’t promise everything, but I’ll try to get the answers you want.

Make sure to as when new M-4A1s come and will Remington make them, or Colt again. Also about M-4 PIP like the free floating barrel upgrades.

Could you ask them if the chances for getting active service out of ROTC will be significantly less in future years? I’m a junior in high school and will be graduating 2018.

Evan, that’s a pretty far scope for something like that. It will porbably all depend on what’s going on in the world and who’s running the country and military. It has gone down a lot in the past three years. GPA and PT score is the key.

Definetly the M4a1 and PIP but also what is the status of the joint service pistol program if it has not been scrapped yet.

Hi Joshua my friend M-4 PIP is doing well we agree. But JCP is either back shelved or cancelled Beretta got a huge order for over 100,000 new M-9s and the Army listed the M-9 as its standard pistol for most of this decade.

My computer wont let me now want a link to Beretta USA to fin the announcement?

Please ask why boots and equipment issued for OEF tours are not authorized in garrison. The Army finally got in right in issuing the Hot weather mountain combat hiker (Belleville 990, Bates) and I believe it is far superior to all boots previously made, but we can’t wear them when we return home. The comfort of these boots are unline any other and would serve well in training evolutions back home as well as garrison use. The Army also finally got the color right because coyote tan does not staiun as much as Army tan, but alas, we can’t wear them at home.

The Army also finally got it right in issuing the RACK as part of the new bodt armor ensemble, but MultiCam is not authorized in garrison – thus making the kit not authorized to wear. I personally just wish the Army would announce MultiCam as the new camo since so many units already have it and call it a day. It would probably save some money and MC works well in any CONUS environment – at least 100 times better that UCP.

Could you ask what their perspective is on the use of strength augmenting suits? Is this likely to become something we will see more of in the future landscape of the battle field, or will we be more likely to see autonomous robot escorts used to carry the load in the future?

Thanks!

Both major political parties have decreed we shall do so. Most voters vote for candidates belonging to one of those parties.
