Frog Lube’s New Commercial

by David Reeder on November 7, 2012 · 12 comments

Obviously I spent the whole thing expecting the guy in the water to be some other form of camouflaged carnivore, shooting at Taliban or irhabists, but ducks will do (at least until we have lots of looters).

Froglube CLP.

On an entirely separate note, did you guys see in a previous post that I’m apparently a warmongering mass murderer preaching genocide and some other stuff? That’s a first for me, I have to tell you. Typically I just get “You’re a POG.” I deleted his comments for the ridiculous off-topic spam the were, but not before I took a screen-shot. That was a first for me.

I was put on this product by BW, and since I have used it I have not looked back. Great product! After long day at range makes cleaning a breeze. I still have my trusty true Hoppes 9 but frog lube is great to keep in your cleaning bag

On the plus-ish side i’m pretty sure that’s the closest security forces is going to ever come to being accused of killing anything en masse ;)

I was a Frog Lube ***** for a while and I still have a couple of tubs laying around.
It is good for cleaning but I dont fully trust it for corrosion protection. There is a lot of salt in the air here every day and its not holding up well against it. Its green, smells like toothpaste ,you can eat it and the USDA approves it so it sells well… but it has also failed where it is needed the most. I use it for cleaning only now and trust weapon shield for lubrication and protection. I suggest trying a healthy serving one some metallic objects that tend to spend more time in the elements like bike chains, axes and such. See if it actually prevents rust and please make a liar out of me.

SALUS

I’m not saying you’re wrong but I’ve seen some reviews that prove otherwise. Again, not saying you’re wrong, just pointing out that others have tried it and Frog Lube fared VERY well versus other popular products like Hoppe’s, and standard BreakFree CLP. I need to get my hands on the stuff and put it through the salt sprayer. I would like to really put it through the ringer to see what it’s made of in the real world.

These guys are local and I am around some dudes that are really close to these guys so I have plenty of it and if you need some I can send it to you to T&E.
Dont get me wrong it excels where other trusted names fail but my experience is not 100% across the board. I have seen the reviews and sat through the demos and I believe it enough to buy 2 tubs each and every show but something went wrong somewhere and for the sake of how much I invested in it, I am going to say it may be a bit of OE. It may not be 100% GTG for everything straight out of the tub, some things may need a break in period in which it is being impregnated into the surface. I use the stuff alot but I also have alot of salt in the air here to where anything metal will rust very quickly.
I am getting mixed information from different camps but my experience has been positive enough to continue to recommend it, just not as a be all end all. I am still experimenting with the stuff so I may end up eating my words in the end…time will tell.

Let me know if you want some of it as they are sort of a sponsor of a sponsor and I have the **** coming out of my **** :)

My experience with it is that froglube is a excellent lubrication and cleaner, though is somewhat mediocre in corrosion/rust prevention (at least compared to SLIP2000 EWL30 and the regular gun lube). The paste works certainly better in corrosion/rust prevention than the liquid (I actually only use the liquid for cleaning and only lubricate with the paste); One thing i will say about this product that it is a must-have for firing corrosive ammunition. It protects against corrosive salts from soviet-era ammunition far better than anything I have ever used before and makes it dandy for a clean up.

This is a purely nonscientific analysis so take it for what it is.

Our range is 7 miles from saltwater. 0 rust on treated parts. Go FrogLube.

Not bad stuff. Works well in my ARs and AKs. Despite what the manufacturer says (apparently froglube dissolves petroleum products), I have also used my SLIP, FP10, and even ATF in those aforementioned weapons without any issues.

i tell you all iv been using this stuff for 2 years now i live next to the ocean so ya there is lots of salt in the air here, i used to use hops #9 and when i started using Frog lube it actualy cleaned more off the guns even after they were cleaned, just did a personal test, were i did not clean my guns for 6 months fired about 600+ rounds, did the range about 1 time a month and guns just sat there the rest, i have to admit in my SR9 was prety dirty but cleaned up perfectly, now the mini 14 on the other hand the gas block was caked with carbon soot and had to be scraped off to get cleaned, shoot gun took a little more cleaning to do, but all in all never any problems feeding or functioning, personal experience, would not wait that long again lol, and never recommend waiting to anyone but will never us another product again.

Stick Froglube in the fridge overnight and see what it looks like. And on the flip side, you’re supposed to heat up your parts to apply it?
