Senior_Chief_HorneOn 02 DEC 12, Senior Chief  Terrell Horne was killed in the line of duty while conducting maritime LE operations off the coast of California aboard the USCG Cutter Halibut. Senior Chief Horne was the Executive Petty Officer of the vessel and a 14 year veteran of the USCG. He sustained fatal injuries when the small boat (RIB) he was on was rammed by a fast panga style boat operated by suspected drug smugglers - one of his final actions before suffering fatal head injuries was to pull a fellow crew member of the boarding team out of danger before the collision.

Senior Chief Horne is survived by his wife Rachel and two sons, Kate and Miller.

The BMCS Terrell Horne III Memorial Patch is being offered by OC Tactical in limited numbers (500) to donate to the Coast Guard Foundation, which supports families of fallen Coast Guardsmen in times of crisis. MARSEC4 provided the graphics and Combat Swag fast-tracked the patches during the SHOT Show season (which is probably the busiest time of the year) and also helped the effort by providing very discounted pricing.

This is one of the Good Things about an industry that revolves around duty and service, in my opinion. You have a small company like OC Tactical teaming up with some other small organizations to make something happen and lend a hand - and there are many others who do the same thing.
