Memorial Service to Chris Kyle

by David Reeder on February 11, 2013 · 15 comments

In just a couple of hours the memorial to Chris Kyle will be held at Cowboy Stadium, followed by a 200 mile procession to the funeral. To say that the man had a tremendous impact on others around him, and not just in the service of his country, is to damn him with faint praise. Like many of you, I was shocked when I got the call the he and Mr. Littlefield had been murdered. Although I never met his family, nor Mr. Littlefield and his family, I wanted to do something for them.

To that end, if you haven’t already done so, you may consider donating to the official trusts via Craft International’s page – http://thecraft.com/InMemoriam.html. At the risk of stepping on toes, I would say that you might think about donating to both. Chad Littlefield was a Chris’  friend and worthy of our support as well.

If you’re interested, Craft International has issued a 4 inch Round Memorial Patch to remember both Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield. There are also shirts available. Proceeds will benefit their memorial funds. The web address there is co-store.com/craftgear;  Craft advises they will accept orders even though items are out of stock and will ship on date specified.

Kyle appeared sometime back on SOFREP TV with former Kit Up! editor Brandon Webb. That show is here (http://sofrep.com/17062/american-hero-chris-kyle-sofrep-tv/) if you have a few minutes to watch it.

Finally, as with any tragedy there are an unscrupulous few who are going to seek to aggrandize themselves or make a buck at the expense of the truth and common decency. Before you buy anything ‘in memoriam‘, vet it first to make sure it’s righteous. You can do that through Craft, SOFREP and the American Snipers Facebook page.

Could that be 20 miles long? 200 is a huge distance.

The public memorial service is in Dallas. The funeral is in Austin.

Although I didn’t know Chris Kyle, I feel we owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude for what he has done for our country and the lives he has saved. My sympathy to his family. We have lost a true hero. God Speed Chris!

I attended the memorial yesterday and it was an emotional roller coaster at times. Chris would have liked it. There wasn’t a sound after the ceremony as people filed out, emptying the rows one by one and walking out in single files.
