Grey Ghost Gear is modernizing an old school idea. They have finally released their magazine bandolier, which was designed to function in many ways like an ammunition-only Bail-Out Bag, or for “those situations when you need additional mags to supplement your current equipment or for those times when you aren’t able to grab your vest or armor carrier, but need additional ammo.” It is manufactured from MilSpec webbing and reinforced elastic webbing and can be worn cross body or around the waist.
Note – the bandolier was not designed to carry USGI magazines. It is built specifically for PMAGs and the like (their construction are key to retention). That said, there are several GGG staffers and field testers checking ‘caveman style’ to see if it will effectively hold onto AK, G36 and some other magazines.
Stickman talked about them a few months ago over on Gear Scout, and they appear to largely function as he originally reported, though the price is lower ($24.99) and this carries six PMAGs, not four.
Follow Grey Ghost Gear on Facebook, as they apparently will be giving some of these away soon.

Hope I win! Thanks even if I don't you guys make awesome kit!!
Nice. Would love to win one!
Sucks cant take STANMAGS. Hope they make a new one that can!!!
NICE!!!
I'd prefer to see pouches that can hold *ANY* AR mags, even GI 20rd'ers. Making them to hold only one make of magazine drastically reduces its utility.
Did you read why they're like that?
The part that the mag construction is key to retention? An enclosed pouch (like ammo bandoliers writ large) should do the same thing, without limiting the user to one mag type.
Disclosure: I don't own any PMags. When the panic finally settles down, I will get some, for my mag 'collection'. :)
Good point on waiting on the panic to die down – though you might just as well use the money needed for a couple of PMAGs to just buy that new car you've been wanting…
Dig the concept, I wouldn't mind having one on deck for those long days at the range.
let me know when you make one for the Ruger mini 14 30 alot of us old guys choose them over the ARs. 16s to much hartace in the old days
Ill just use the ones that come with ammo. Hint hint pull the white string. Lighter replaceable, ect ect.
Does anyone know if Pmags can be permanently pinned to 10 rounds? In NJ we have a 15 round limit, expected to be down to 10 if the 23 anti-2A Bills passed by the Assembly become law.
Yes they can, they sell blockers that go into the bottom of the mage and prevent the spring and follower going down any further than 10 rounds would allow. You then weld, rivet, or glue the floor plate to the body of the PMag and you're good to go. For more info I recommend that you hit a dedicated gun forum like AR15.form or even CalGuns.
OK guys, the whole pmag only thing is limited by the elastic, there isn't a good way to make it GI mag compatible without drastically changing the product. If you want to use GI mags (god only knows why) use a blue force gear 6-pack or something. If you want enclosed pouches just put molle pouches on a long pistol belt.
Why is it whenever something new and innovative comes out everyone wants to change it into something already on the market?
In Vietnam, during my second tour, with the 3rdMarDiv, I was finally cornered and forced to give up my M14 (W/selector which I rarely used). I was issued a brand new shiny M16A1. Much better weapon than the original XM16E1's most of the Units I was attached to were issued. I dumped the A! and went to Regimental Aid station and built myself a franken-M16.
Now I needed pouches. Supply had no magazine pouches amongst their 782 gear. what I did was get two M16 5.56NATO bandoliers would accept the 20 round issue magazines. I put two together and that rig handled 14 magazines. Each that held 16 rounds.
Needless to say I like the concept, but I am a bona-fide old fart and the validation tickles my fancy. Trust me, not much fancy left to tickle anymore in my case.
Good luck. Get the gear that works best for you, your mission(s), and most PROBABLE applications. Not the fight, you want or hope for, but the fight you are most apt to get into.
I no longer fight the NVA, I now fight the V.A.
Bandoliers need to be dependable, easy to access and durable. As a Vietnam & Desert Storm vet, it always seemed that no matter what kind of vest configuration the services development, the bandolier always makes a comeback.
