LAS VEGAS -- Swiss arms-maker Kriss International SA on Monday showed off an upgraded, semi-automatic version of its Vector line of submachine guns with a new collapsible stock.

The so-called Vector CRB Enhanced still has a 16-inch barrel but comes with an M4 stock adapter and a Magpul UBR stock for better balance, according to Michael Hou, business development manager for law enforcement and military at Kriss USA.

"It actually provides a counterweight," he said in an interview with Military.com at a range outside Las Vegas as part of the opening day of SHOT Show. "This carbine is a little bit front-heavy but with this stock it actually provides a bit more balance."

Like previous versions, the weapon's lower receiver features the company's recoil mitigation system, known as the Super V System, in which the bolt moves downward rather than backward, thus reducing recoil by as much as 60 percent, Hou said.

"Normally in a firearm, you have a bolt that moves front to back and it sends that energy straight into the shoulder," he said. "What this does is, as you're firing, the bolt actually moves downwards, reducing said felt recoil ... so when you're firing, you'll be able to get your muzzle back on target much more quickly, especially with full automatic fire."

The weapon retails for $1,995, Hou said. The price tag includes the Vector, stock and adapter, and front and rear sights, he said.
