SafeTacMag Blank Magazines

SafeTacMag,LLC has developed an training magazine for M16s and M4s, specifically designed to fire blank ammo.

“During training exercises, blank ammunition often “jams,” causing the service rifle to malfunction. … The standard-issue magazine was never designed to fire blank ammunition,” according to a recent press release. “As everyone in uniform knows, the much shorter blank ammunition cartridges simply do not feed properly from the standard magazine into the service rifle. Our blank-fire magazines feed blanks into the service rifle seamlessly without causing jams.”

SafeTacMags require no modifications to the weapon and “makes training safer because it is simply impossible to load live rounds into our magazine,” according to the release.

The mags are blue as an additional visual safety feature. They cost $20 each.

I doubt individual gun owners will want to buy these, but it seems like a good idea for military units to consider if the price were to come down for a bulk order.

Something we Brits have had for more than a decade… Granted, the ones we have were modified from the crappy old Enfield mags that were in service before we replaced them with the H&K ones around the time the L85A2 was adopted.

Jesus, Brits ahead of the yanks on something? Has hell frozen over?!

You Brits are probably headed for civil war with the imported members of a certain religion before the Yanks, so maybe get used to being in the avante garde. Rotherham, Oxford, Rochdale, seems from here ball is already rolling.

The SBFS mag never came Enfield magazines unless you’re talking about Radway Green mags with the A1?

IIRC the first dedicated Blank mag we had came from the HK one

Closing the barn door after the horse has left! Why waste more money on unneeded stuff! When the M-16 came out, might have been a good idea but having pushed billions of blanks thru God knows how many M-16/M4 platforms, why would the military waste rare monies on this! They will probably cut another brigade to buy them!! Spend the money on range time with live ammo!!

Let’s just hope the military adopts this before another Soldier or Marine is killed. I know there has been a couple of deaths in the Marines and 3 or 4 in the Army since 2000.

I was an armorer in the artillery, and was so adamant for clean weapon turn ins, that the troops refused to shoot their blanks in training unless forced to so. The cleaning of the M16A1 was hated worse than the missing of training. Sorry folks but I was going to do my job and damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
