Raven Concealment’s New Upgraded Vangard 2 Holster

Raven Concealment Systems announced today that its new VanGuard 2 Holster – Advanced Kit is now available.

The VanGuard 2 Advanced Kit is an upgrade to the original VanGuard 2 minimalist inside-the-waistband holster, which eliminates the bulk of traditional IWB holsters.

“The VG2 Advanced Kit’s inclusion of the RCS CLAW takes this system’s concealability to the next level, by leveraging the grip of the pistol close to the body, while still allowing for a clean, repeatable draw,” according to a RCS press release.

The VanGuard 2 Advanced Kit with the RCS CLAW can be equipped with either a tuckable strut with overhook or tuckable strut with soft loop, to allow you to choose the best belt interface system for your carry and mission type.

This combination is adjustable for ride-height and cant, is fully ambidextrous, and “is the ultimate in deep concealment technology when combined with our proprietary tuckable struts,” the release states.

The VG2 Advanced kit is not compatible with the Basic Kit Strut or the Lanyard option. VG2 CLAWs are only compatible with the model of VG2 shell specified. For example, a Glock VG2 CLAW “will NOT fit” an M&P VG2 holster shell, according to the release.

For safety, Raven stress the following point:

“Please be aware, we do not advise attempting to re-holster the weapon while the VG2 is inside your clothing. You should remove the VG2 and install it on the weapon outside of your waistband.”

The VG2 Advanced Kit is available for $45 and fits Gen 3/ 4 Glock models, except for the G42/43.

Looks like there is a lot of play/tilt with one clip. No thanks.

I have the single soft loop, but the claw mitigates that potential tilt a lot.

That sure looks like it would be uncomfortable to wear. I don’t know that it is practical or necessary to go that minimalist on an IWB holster.

I own both the Raven Concealment Phantom and the Vanguard. The Phantom (when I set it up for IWB) offers all the concealment I need. However, the Vanguard makes a lot of sense if your first impulse is just to stick your pistol inside your belt or hang it from a shoestring. Quite a few people I know also use the Vanguard as a trigger cover when setting down their carry Glock.

I have a Dale Fricke zaccheus which operates off of a similar concept and I’ve also found it handy for bag carry. I loop the cord around the inside pouch of my fanny pack and it adds an extra layer of security for when I run.
