New York-based LaserMax has introduced a new laser sight for handgun rails.

The company says the patent-pending mounting system of its Spartan series eliminates the need for multiple laser housing options or adapters and is so adjustable that it can be installed at the precise location for user's personal comfort and ease of use. Once anchored, the firm says, the system will maintain accuracy even during extensive live fire.

The Spartan is designed to operate for more than five hours on a single 1/3N lithium battery. To help preserve battery life, the sight also deactivates the laser automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity. Electronic touch pads on both sides mean the laser can be easily activated by right-handed or left-handed operators.

The device includes a programmable beam -- steady or high-visibility pulsed -- and is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. The red-laser Spartan retails for $99. The green-laser version costs $149.
