Eucerin Hand Cream

All it (Bag Balm – ED) really is is lanolin in a carrier like mineral oil or petrolatum.

I used this stuff for years but have found Eucerin cream in the tub and in the tube a better product. The tube can be carried easily in the field and will be used more because you can carry it in your pocket.

ED -- Mike, I did a little dumpster diving and boy does Eucerin offer a lot of stuff.  I assume the product you're referencing is their "original" formula (pictured here.)  As you said, the Eucerin is a lanolin based product, though based on their product description it appears to be a more highly refined form of lanolin.  Eucerin is available at most drug stores and department storts.

The posts almost make it sound like pure lanolin would be the thing. It wouldn't be. The pure stuff is really sticky and hard to work with.

Pure lanolin is quite sticky, one product I have used for years is called Corn Huskers Lotion.

Initially slimy like silicone, give it a second and it dries and "seals" the skin.

This stuff is great for rosacea.

I use this stuff in the tub and tube. When I've had to go without and my hands are cracked, I'll slather it on, then put on surgical gloves so I can still work. A pair of aviator gloves, or the like over that will cause the pores to open as your hands warm. Two applications makes cracked and bleeding hands almost like new!
