by Matthew Cox on January 18, 2012 · 5 comments

Safariland has come out with a new version of its Automatic Locking System holsters. The 6395 on display features a streamlined thumb lever as a secondary lock for the ALS. Right now,  it comes in black, but Safariland officials are planning to have other colors soon.

Check it out.

This is an interesting holster. I saw it review on “On Target” magazine this month. I may pick one up and try it. Currently using Blackhawk Serpa holster for OWB carry.

Looks like it’s being molded for most service pistols, the list is comprehensive. And yes it’s a level I duty holster, probably replacing the the previous model 6325 and also has a Hi-Gloss and basket-weave version all in the $90-$100 dollar range.

I’ve been running an ALS for about 3 year now. One of the best holsters made. And so, even after over a year in Iraq, I’ve failed to break it. The price is good, since I’ve only had to buy one. I did buy a second one that works with a weapon mounted light and it works just as well.

I originally used Fobus holsters for all of my pistols until I took a little week long pistol course with some group guys and fell in love with their Safariland holsters. Much safer than the Serpas we’re issued and still intuitive in function.
